No' Poo Update: Nearly 3 Years Later!

This is a pretty self explanatory post. I still get questions about going without shampoo, so here's a little follow up! I have changed things up a bit, and I do use a natural shampoo before getting a haircut and when we're traveling, so I share what products I use for that, too!

DIY: Cutting/Trimming Bangs At Home

I've had bangs for most of my life, if you can believe it! There was a gap from about second grade to seventh grade that I let them grow out, but I've made my way back to them! I never let hairdressers cut my bangs for me, as I've had them botch it terribly. So, this is my method for trimming!

Just a reminder: Less is more! Whenever you're cutting your hair—particularly the parts that frame your face—cut slightly less than you think you need to. You can alway go back and trim a bit more.

BONUS TIP! If you feel the cut is still too "blunt," take a set of thinning shears and snip about 1/4" at the tips of your bangs. This may be the finishing touch you need!

This also works for gals who want longer bangs. If you're going a lot longer, you can angle the hair straight up for more variation in the layers that frame your face.

I was going to attempt "straight-across" bangs this time (think Zooey Deschanel), but my hair texture has changed too much for the style to sit right, and I'm not super fond of the way it turned out. Bobby pins are my best friend, till they grow out. ;) Anyhoo, that's why there isn't an "after" pic for this post.

On that note, when you decide to choose a length/style for your bangs, keep your hair texture in mind. If you have coarse hair like me, sideswept may be your best bet. But, if your strands are fine, straight-across bangs make for a flirty look!

Does anyone else feel like having bangs makes them look younger? Whenever mine are long or pulled back, I feel it makes me look older.
